The 2010 Next Wave Festival（メルボルン）での野外スクリーニング部門「The Ultimate Time Lapse Megamix」にて、フラグメントシアター２「透明吐息」が開催されます。本タイトルが示す通り、野外上映会場となるフェデレーションスクエアに戯れる鑑賞者と同様、ストリートを舞台にアーティストたちが映し出した街の呼吸の断片を巨大スクリーンにて３日間連続で野外上映します。

Over the last three years, Artist Initiative CommandN has coordinated and run a series of exhibitions: KANDADA/Project Collective, introducing a variety of art projects from Japan and overseas, with an objective to actively research the possibilities of interaction between contemporary art and local society. In 2008 this activity developed into a broader research project on artist-driven, independent art projects within Asia.
Chosen from amongst a number of organizations visited in this Asian research project, Richard Streitmatter-Tran from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, has been invited to KANDADA as a guest artist. He will present his work for the first time in Japan, and also appear as a panelist in an associated symposium. Having spent his early years in the USA, Richard is able to observe objectively the contemporary art scene in Vietnam and the states of the Mekong subregion. His activities can be said to be firmly rooted in his unique position as someone with one foot in the West and one in the East, and in his experience of living in both contrasting social regimes.
On research trips, members of CommandN have visited Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore and other countries to interview artists and organizations actively involved in alternative art activities in each region, and to view their facilities. Footage of these interviews will be screened and documentation, in the form of a mini reference library, will be displayed for a limited period during the exhibition. CommandN would like to introduce the activities of the groups they have met as examples of the possibilities they offer to those seeking alternatives to the existing art establishment and its framework.

コマンドNでは過去３年間にわたり、「地域社会とアートプロジェクト」をテーマに日本国内外のアートプロジェクトを紹介するProject Collectiveシリーズを展開してきました。本シリーズは2008年度よりアジア地域に視点を拡げ、各国地域での活動に対するリサーチプロジェクトへと発展しています。
本企画では、リサーチプロジェクトの対象団体の内のベトナムホーチミン市より、ゲストアーティストとしてリチャード・ストレイトマター・チャンが来日し、シンポジウムの開催と日本初となる作品発表を行います。リチャード・ストレイトマター・チャンは幼少期よりアメリカで育った経緯をもっており、ベトナムをはじめとするメコン地域のアートシーンを常に客観的に捉える視点をもっています。そのアクティビティーは、まさに「右と左」の社会体制を生きたアイデンティティだからこその活動と言えます。また、同会場ではコマンドNのメンバーが訪れたタイ・インド・ベトナム・シンガポールでのリサーチの際に収録した30名の貴重なインタビュー映像の発表、関連資料やドキュメントを自由に閲覧できる小型ライブラリーの期間限定の設置を行います。本企画名にある「右と言えば左」が示すように、今回紹介する各国のアーティスト、団体、施設は、既存のARTの枠や存在意義に対して常に疑問を抱きながら、第三の途に導く方法論を自ら探求していくアクティビティーを実践しています。

■About intrude: Art & Life 366
On January 1st Zendai MoMA launched Intrude: Art & Life 366, a project that will realize a total of 366 art-related events in Shanghai throughout the year. Events include exhibitions, site-specific public installations, performances, concerts, film screenings and lectures. The main objective of this project is to redefine and generate discussions among those working in the creative industries in Shanghai. All events can be accessed online through the Intrude website. Zendai will likewise archive and update progress on the project through periodically published catalogues and magazines. Intrude was initiated by Zendai Director Shen Qibin and is curated by Biljana Ciric, curator of the 2006 Singapore Biennale's China section.

"Secret Auction @ KANDADA" employs a unique bidding system; the starting price is decided by each artist - and this could be as low as 1 Yen - so there will be a lot of affordable art works on offer. The highest bid offered will decide the winner, but nobody will know what or who that is until the end of the show.
Deciding on a price for an artwork means having an opportunity to think of its true value.
The articles in the auction will include paintings, objects, film images, fashion items and more - a great diversity.
Do come and participate in "Secret Auction @ KANDADA", and experience the art which could become yours.....and at a very reasonable price!

Command-N will host a new event "Alternative Tokyo: Dada-things-up a bit!/01" on Saturday 29th March, 2008, at our project site, Kandada.
This project is a 'contest' of presentations without purpose - what we might call a "Symposium of Expression".
In this first meeting, we have no idea of how the event will develop, but then neither do our presenters. What we hope for here is to see each presenter's passion; their passion to get 'something' across, their eagerness to show, to talk about, or make moves to do something, that is what we want here. Success or failure is irrelevant. We invite our participants all to witness only what happens here and now.
On 29th March, Command-N will invite a host of exciting creators from the various fields of contemporary art, graphic design and fashion to present their ideas to us all, and to do so in only 10 minutes!
Alternative Tokyo: Kandada will be the place to "Dada" things up a bit!
